Benefits of unlocking

Unlocking your mobile device enables the phone to be used with any compatible Sim card on any network, which gives you these benefits.

  • Promotional deals.

Often networks give away free Sim cards, these can come with free texts or calls. Yet if your phone isn't unlocked you can't put the Sims in your phone and take advantage.

  • A cheaper tariff.

If you like your phone but don't have a good deal, unlocking it allows you to keep the phone but switch to another network. And you don't need a new phone to get a better tariff.

  • Added value.

Unlocked phones sell for more on eBay, because they have much wider appeal to users on other networks and in other countries.

  • Freedom to roam.

Unlocking extends to many foreign Sim cards too, so you can totally eschew networks' expensive overseas rates by getting a local Sim card everywhere you go. Simply unlock your phone and then purchase a prepaid domestic SIM card at your destination and receive the same low call rates as locals

What is An Unlock Code

The term Unlock code is to refer to the 8 or 16 digit unlock code that is necessary to remove the network lock or service provider lock (also known as subsidy lock) from Blackberry mobile phones.

Many mobile service providers provide these subsidies as an incentive for users to sign extended contracts, and use the these locks as a means of protecting their investment.

The installation of such locks means that users often are forced to purchase a different phone if they decide to switch their network (of advantage to both the mobile phone manufacturer and cellular service provider).

What is SIM lock ?
Sim Lock prevents the phone from using a SIM from different service providers the one purchased. If another company's SIM card is inserted, the user must enter the SIM lock code (Network unlock code or Service Provider unlock code) before using the phone.

If the SIM Lock code is entered 10 times incorrectly, the handset will be blocked permanently.
Sim Lock (network lock or service provider lock) restricts access to phone by binding the SIM to the phone
(replacing the SIM card with a different service provider's SIM will still produce invalid sim card prompt).

What is SIM Cards ?

SIM cards are small smart cards that fit inside phones based on the GSM technology.

SIMs contain personalized information about its user, including the network activation and even phone book entries.

One can put its SIM card in another GSM mobile phone and use it as if it was his own phone (if the phone is unlocked).

What does Roaming mean?

Service offered by most service providers, allowing users to use their phone even if they are not in their home coverage area. In general, using a phone while &roaming& incurs additional fees, though some service providers offer national roaming for free on some service plans. An increasing number of phones offer what is called International or Global Roaming, since it allows users to make and receive phone calls from virtually any country.

What is a Locked and Unlocked phone ?

Many phones sold by Service Provider come "locked" to their network. A locked mobile phone can only be used with that service provider and it cannot be used with other service providers (Not counting roaming).

An Unlocked Mobile phone is not locked to any network so the phone can accept any compatible sim card.
